A while back Richard and I visited Oahu. A couple of our friends recommended we try there instead of Maui since we get bored just sitting around relaxing. Thus, we thought that Honolulu represented a good mix of relaxation and urban amenities like movie theaters. It was a fun trip but extremely muggy. The temperature was hotter than usual and we both felt too hot to really go out and do the athletic things we wanted to. For example, we didn't go on any bike rides because we were too busy hiding out from the sun during peak hours. The trip home was exciting. On our last day there was torrential rain and thunderstorms. Our plane was hit by lightening so we spent 6 hours on the tarmac while the plane was repaired. The passenger next to me nearly died because she went too long without her medicine and we missed our connecting flight, stranding us in LAX for half a day. |

Fun Things To Do in Oahu
Photo AlbumA small portion of the many pictures we took on our trip. Please take a look if you are interested. |

| Here I am at the Nuuani Pali lookout, a park with a territorial view of the Koolau Mountain Range. The vista is terrific and the lush vegetation on the scenic drive via Pali highway is a treat. Somehow though, this is still my favorite picture from that park. |

| The Dole Plantation has a "pineapple garden maze" you can explore. Apparently it is the longest maze in the world. Richard and I got hopelessly lost and it took us forever to find our way out. Here I am looking at the map for the maze. |

| This is a picture of Richard and me on our Hawaiian sunset cruise. We are looking uncharacteristically relaxed. |

| Surfing competition at North Shore on Oahu. The waves were not impressive, but it was a nice way to spend an afternoon. You can't see the surfers well in the action shots, so here is one of a surfer as he heads out to compete. |
